This adult black bear crossed the highway just in front of us on the Icefields Parkway, around 9:30 PM. We observed another one a few miles further down; he was turning over large rocks along the roadside looking for food. The bears have to eat enormous amounts of food during the summer to store fat for winter hibernation.
